Traditional techniques for flood estimation use runoff data by rainfall for unit hydrograph. Such techniques have been widely applied for the estimation of flood hydrograph at the sites of gauged catchments. For ungauged catchments, unit hydrographcan be derived from either traditional unit hydrograph approach or Geomorphological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (GIUH) approach. This paper analyse basin characteristics through Geographical Information System (GIS) using DEM derivrd from Komsat images of RS. For Geomorphological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (GIUH), the peak and the time to peak was estimated by basin area, slope, basin length. Analyzation of basin characteristics using Komsat images makes design of ungauged catchment and runoff according to topographical metamorphosis and GIUH possible. Basin area according to drainage network and channel length distribution curve slope indicated no great difference and almost corresponded at each grid. In addition, channel length according to each size of grid had a tendency to decline linearly and Geomorphological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (GIUH) showed relatively similar distribution between 30 m and 50 m.
