The objective of this study is to analyze characteristics of household water and to predictthe trend of water use for the future based on the statistical analysis. Domestic waterconsumption is estimated by metered water use components of sampled 146 households inKorea from 2002 to 2006. The water use of each purpose represents that 25% of total fortoilet, 20% for laundry, 19% for kitchen, 16% for bathing, 10% for washbowl, and 9% foruncategorized miscellaneous. Comparing the amount of water of each housing type, 141Liter per Capital per Day (Lpcd) was estimated in single family house, 155 Lpcd for multiunit,and 159 Lpcd for apartment respectively. The results are compared with other countries’water use by each component of the validity estimated waster use. It shows that total wateruse per person a day and component ratio with U.K., U.S., the water consumption patterns aresimilar to U.S. Also, total water use in U.K. was less than that of both Korea and U.S. Theeffect of life-style and residential types on water use has had a marked impact on householdoccupancy levels with the rate of economic development, particularly in the more urbanizedareas.
