The There comes sudden climate changes and the necessity of dam safety goes to more and more high level. This study tried to advantages of MgO concrete techniques which had been developed in China for increasing the safety of concrete gravity dam in construction stage. In this study, autogenous expansion of concrete containing MgO was measured and compared  with that of concrete with no MgO. It is found from the test results that the amount of MgO and curing temperature strongly influence the autogenous expansion of dam concrete with compressive strength of 12 MPa. Keywords: MgO, autogenous expansion, jets
