Water temperature in a reservoir varies in a complicated manner, i.e., it exhibits variation over different seasons, along the depth of water, over the planar location, etc. Therefore, it is a difficult subject to define the most representative value for the water temperature of a given reservoir. We analyze vertical water temperature profiles observed at several locations over different seasons. The analysis of information contents of the observed data is then interpreted in a physically meaningful manner.
