Deformation behavior of fill type dams including concrete faced rockfill dam is an important component in safety management, hence is frequently and thoroughly analyzed using numerical analysis or instrumentational approach. Also, analysis on the deformation behavior of fill dam provides us various useful information and knowledge in aspects of design, construction and maintenance. In this paper, a numerical analysis by finite element method is carried using hyperbolic model as constitute model to simulate the deformation behavior of the study dam, a CFRD dam which is under construction but at the final stage of its construction process in Korea. For the deformations measured and recorded from the beginning of its construction, they can be compared with the results by the FEM analysis.The results of the comparison which show good agreement each other imply that the study dam has been filled with high quality and uniformity; that proper input parameters were used in the analysis; and that deformation by instruments have been properly monitored with high precision. |
