The management of water distribution systems is very complex, not least because many of the pipes are installed underground and invisible. Moreover, the loading on the system varies over time and the pipes can be spread over a large area through different types of geography. Finally, one of the key challenges facing engineers in this field is that the water pipes are not easily accessible and the degradation patterns are not generally well understood. The primary functions of a water supply network are to provide water of adequate pressure, flow rate and quality to customers. The purpose of this research is to build evaluation tools for a water pipe network to aid decision makers working in integrated management system in the water supply industry. The network evaluation tool would investigate the impact factors, in terms of network performance. This paper presents a methodology for estimating the performance of the water supply systems that transmit and distribute water across water pipe networks. The investigations and researches were carried out to develop software to assist the evaluation of WDS with respects to hydraulics, water quality and structural analysis methods. The concepts and functions are introduced in this paper and the performance indices are discussed for accurate assessment of water distribution systems.Integrated diagnosis program (Dr.pipe2+) as a hydraulic, water quality and structural diagnosis tool in water distribution system is introduced and application results are presented in this paper. Application results are shown into Sinhyeon province, Geoje city in Korea and validation of the developed tool is presented |
