The basic purpose of study is to compare the results of forest hydrology from Soil Water AssessmentTool (SWAT) and Regional Hydro-Ecological Simulation System (RHESSys) model. Themodels were applied to a 8.54 km^2 small watershed covering 90 % with forest located in thenorthwest of South Korea. The models were calibrated and validated using 3 years (2007?2009)daily observed streamflow, evapotranspiration, and soil moisture data. The Nash-Sutcliffemodel efficiencies for SWAT and RHESSys were over 0.5 and 0.7 respectively. In addition, theRHESSys model simulated ecological components, Gross Primary Production (GPP) and NetPhotosynthetic Productivity (PSNnet) were compared with the MODIS (Moderate ResolutionImaging Spectroradiometer) 8-days composite products. The average R^2 for GPP and PSNnetwere 0.93 and 0.47 respectively. The key parameters of each model were listed and the differencesfor the forest evaluation were discussed from the view point of plant ecosystem. |
