The basic purpose of study is to compare the results of forest hydrology from Soil Water AssessmentTool (SWAT) and Regional Hydro-Ecological Simulation System (RHESSys) model. The modelswere applied to a 8.54 km^2 small watershed covering 90 % with forest located in the northwest ofSouth Korea. The models were calibrated and validated using 3 years (2007-2009) daily observedstreamflow, evapotranspiration, and soil moisture data. The Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiencies forSWAT and RHESSys were over 0.5 and 0.7 respectively. In addition, the RHESSys model simulatedecological components, Gross Primary Production (GPP) and Net Photosynthetic Productivity(PSNnet) were compared with the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) 8-dayscomposite products. The average R2 for GPP and PSNnet were 0.93 and 0.47 respectively. The keyparameters of each model were listed and the differences for the forest evaluation were discussed fromthe view point of plant ecosystem. |
