Algae bloom repeat generation and extinction according to the meteorological condition and nutrient concentration in raw water. Since 1998, Korea government apply algae notice system when the chlorophyll-A concentration is more than 15 mg/㎥ and cyanobacteria is more than 500 cell/mL. Taste and odor problem occur every year in water treatment facillity due to cyanobacteria bloom in dam reservoir. The representative taste and odor compound, geosmin and 2-MIB, have low removal efficiency in treatment facility due to mainly soluble compound originated from algae. |
