Both the rate of hypochlorite decomposition and the rate of chlorate and bromate formation increase with increase in concentration, temperature and storage(Fig.1). Two basic strategies are utilities for minimizing ClO3- formation: (1) diluting the concentrated liquid bleach immediately after delivery, (2) using lower storage temperatures. |
