The surface and groundwater resources in the Citarum River Basin (CRB), Indonesia are critical tosocial and economic development of the country. One of the fundamental steps in water basinmanagement is a reliable and accurate rainfall-runoff analysis. In this study, a hydrologic systemto forecast rainfall-runoff for CRB in Indonesia was developed by employing RRFS (Rainfall-Runoff Forecasting System), a long-term, hydrologic rainfall-runoff model enabling thecontinuous simulation of daily, monthly and yearly runoff. Various water demands includingdomestic, agricultural, and industrial uses were carefully taken into account. The model wascalibrated and verified using the observed flow data acquired during the data collection activities.The rainfall-runoff model developed using RRFS will provide basic input data for the waterallocation and water quality models scheduled to be developed in the later phase of this project.Additionally, RRFS-based mid- and long-term ESP systems will play an important role in riskassessment and probability analysis for dam operation and water allocation plan.
