Piping through embankment or foundation of concrete dam has been issued as a main factor of various menaces for safe maintenance of the water facility structure. In this study, a new approach to find the location of the piping point by geoelectrical method is proposed.It was traditional configuration for electrical survey on embankment for safety assessment that the current and potential poles are located somewhere on the target embankment, and then observing the resistivity variation within the embankment was a main objective.However, in the case of piping, the main interest would be locating the danger zone rather than understanding the status of internal material, and especially when the target dam is made of concrete, traditional electrical survey is not appropriate.Our approach is to install the current line source in the water of upstream and downstream, and then let the current flow from upstream to downstream area. The potential will be measured at downstream to find any electrical anomalies due to piping condition.
