As a microbial growth and limitation point of view, F/M ratio and C/N ratio are one ofthe most important parameters for process optimization in biological wastewater treatment process.Municipal sewage in Korea is characterized by extremely low content of carbon source and relativelyhigher portion of N source. Accordingly, it is necessary to dose external carbon source in order toobtain higher degree of carbon source within the process. Filtered-wastewater from thermal hydrolysisprocess(THP) will lead to maximize F/M ratio and to exchange microbial kinetic within the process. In this study, the effects of filtered-wastewater from THP as an alternative plan for increasing carbonsource on the cell disintegration and COD solubility of waste activated sludge were conducted underwell defined experimental conditions. During 5 hours, the values of specific nitrification rate(SNR) andspecific de-nitrification rate(SDNR) were 0.24∼0.51mg/g/hr and 0.08∼0.25mg/g/hr, respectively.Specific phosphate release rate(SPRR) and Specific phosphate uptake rate(SPUR) values were 0.29∼2.47mg/g/hr and 0.22∼2.93mg/g/hr, respectively. The value of Specific substrate uptake rate(SSUR)for filtered-wastewater from THP is approximately 2.8 times higher than the value of SSUR forreference sample. |
