The possibility of using portable electronic nose system continuously to detect water odors caused by algae in river water and pollutants such as phenol and chlorine which has been happened sometime from water quality accident in elsewhere was investigated in this study.  The development of portable electronic nose with 6 MOS sensors arrayed to detect water odors carried out with high sensitivity until parts per trillion level of geosmin in water.  In order to construct an early warning system on the water quality management in water industries, the development of instrument with an electronic nose system and determination of taste and odor compounds in water by real time monitoring are studied in this study.
