A membrane process has selective permeability according to the physical and chemical characteristics; size and electric charge. The increase of ionic materials in the law water has an influence on the permeability. Therefore, the effect of solution chemistry on micro organic pollutants in nanofiltration process was evaluated in this study.Five selected micro organic pollutants were selected as target compounds for the experiment. The nanofiltration was composed of two-stage and operated as 90% of recovery. The figure 1 showed the result of the removal efficiencies of micro organic pollutants in the various total dissolved solid (TDS) condition. When TDS was increased in the law water, the removal efficiency of micro organic pollutants was decreased.TDS in law water decreased electric charge repulsion of micro organic pollutants through charge neutralization and also increased membrane fouling. |
