In this study, UNESCO and K-water is co-developing estimation tool for international certification for safe drinking water. UNESCO is planning a drinking water certification programme to promote drinking water and water supply system and In addition, UNESCO is to develop and manage a platform for knowledge/technology sharing among member cities and cities in developing member states for the achievement of UN SDG 6 which is clean water and sanitation..Certification criteria will be sum of quantitative criteria (50%) which is "drinking water" quality by WHO guidelines and domestic regulations and qualitative criteria (50%) which is design and operation of facilitiesDrinking water sampling for quantitative criteria have frequency of 4 times a year (seasonal year-round, quarterly) and number of sampling will be 0.1% of customers (household). UNESCO will lead the programme while K-water will participate as a technical advisor. Certification rating will be triple A plus which is more than 98%, single A plus which is between 94% and 98%, Single A which is between 90% and 94%, Fail which is less than 90%.UNESCO and K-water will assess and certificate the one-year pilot city in 2019 to consider the ensuing scale up of programme and cooperation, and will develop and provide a global water platform that member cities all over the world can communicate with each other and/or with cities of developing countries. |
