Algal blooms are major issues and an ongoing cause of water quality problems in inland waters globally. Harmful algal blooms are controlled by synergistic effects of nutrient supplies, light availability, temperature, water residence time, and biotic iterations. Therefore, Ministry of Environment manages algal blooms by algal alert system and remote monitoring of algal blooms. K-water developed and has enhanced SURIAN(SUpercom based RIver Analysis Network) for scientific management of water quality. Also, K-water developed K-SIMS(K-water Satellite Information Management System) for water resources and water-related disaster management. Among the methods for the management of algal blooms are monitoring, controlling, and prediction. In this study, we monitored and predicted algal blooms in new dam reservoirs. Real-time chlorophyll-a monitoring and machine learning techniques were applied to analyze spatial algal blooms variation, and watershed-reservoir linked modelings were applied to assess watershed management plans. |
