This paper analyzes monitoring results for a conventional heating and cooling system before it was renovated as a heating and cooling system using water source heat pump systems. In recent years, Korea has been promoting the distribution of water sources (i.e., river water) as renewable energy for reducing building energy. To apply water source heat pumps into the heating and cooling system of buildings, we need to examine effective variables and develop a seasonal performance factor under actual operating conditions, including very cold entering (inlet) temperatures in Korea's winter. In this study, the monitoring system was established to measure the conventional cooling and heating system before renovating to the heating and cooling system using the water source heat pump, and to compare it precisely with the results after the renovated cooling and heating system using water source heat pump and thermal storage system. The conventional system of cooling and heating consists of a screw chiller with thermal storage, two steam gas boilers, and an absorption chilling system connected to the gas boilers. Monitoring zones are divided into 8 groups according to similar equipment. Monitoring points were measured and analyzed at 26 points for temperatures, 13 points for flow rates, 12 points for pressures, and 44 points for power consumption and city gas consumption. |
