Microcystin-LR, known for its highest toxicity, has been managed as the primary target for monitoring by WHO, most countries and the Korean Ministry of Environment in drinking water. With the expansion of microcystins management by WHO (2022) and USEPA (2016), Korea is also transitioning towards managing microcystins in drinking water. Consequently, it is crucial to reassess and reevaluate the appropriateness of the current analytical methods and their applicability in water qaulity monitoring. Currently, microcystin analytical methods primarily involve individual variant analysis through LC-MS/MS and immunoassay assisted quantification using ELISA with adda functional group as a common target site. |
